Creating surveys on SportFin

A quick guide on creating surveys for SportFin

Written by SportFin Team

Surveys let you collect feedback from your members and participants - and link the feedback directly to their profile. You build the survey on SportFin and share its link, and anyone with the link can respond. All the responses appear in one place, with charts and an Excel download.

Create surveys

  1. Go to 'Impact Analytics' > 'Reports and Surveys' section.

  2. Click 'Create Survey'.

  3. Enter a title for your survey. Each survey title must be unique.

  4. Click 'Add question' and set up your question (see the options below). Repeat for each question you want to ask.

  5. Click 'Save Survey'.

Survey options

Each question has:

  • Question: what you want to ask.

  • Description (optional): extra guidance shown under the question.

  • Question type: how respondents answer:

    • Short text answer: a single-line text box.

    • Long text answer: a larger box for longer answers.

    • Date answer: a date picker.

    • Numeric answer: numbers only.

    • Single Choice: respondents pick one option from a list.

    • Multiple Choice: respondents can pick several options.

    • Dropdown: respondents pick one option from a dropdown list.

    • Stars: a star rating. Enter how many stars to show, from 1 to 10.

  • Required: tick this if respondents must answer the question before they can submit.

For Single Choice, Multiple Choice and Dropdown questions, click '+ Add' to add each answer option. To remove an option or a question, click 'x Remove'.

Before your survey saves, SportFin checks that:

  • it has a title and at least one question

  • no two questions are the same

  • every choice question has at least one option

  • every star question has between 1 and 10 stars

If anything needs fixing, a message lists it.

Redirect respondents to a page

You can send respondents to a web page after they submit your survey, for example your website or a booking page. Add the link in the 'Redirect respondents to a page?' box at the bottom of the survey.

When someone submits the survey, they see a thank-you message. When they click OK, they're taken to your page. If you leave the box blank, they stay on the thank-you message. To change or remove the link later, edit the survey and update or clear the box.
